Two more arrested in baby formula scandal

Updated: 2008-09-16 17:32 Police detained another man surnamed Zhao for allegedly selling melamine around Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital of Hebei. Police believe he worked in collaboration with another suspect surnamed Xue. Zhao, aged 62, is a native of Xingtang County, Hebei Province. Xue has gone into hiding. An estimated 1,253 babies developed kidney stones after drinking tainted baby formula produced by Sanlu Group, a Chinese dairy giant based in Hebei Province. Two babies died as a result. The Health Ministry on Tuesday pledged free health care for all babies sickened by the contaminated formula. |
