Judges from Miyun county, Beijing, traveled to Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, last Monday to hear the divorce case between Zhan Ming, a 36-year-old Beijing man, and his wife surnamed Li, who sued him for divorce on the grounds of desertion.

Zhan had left his then-pregnant wife to become a monk at the temple, where his wife eventually tracked him down. Zhan, however, refused to return to Beijing for the case. The temple-held court made a property settlement awarding Li and the child Zhao's apartment.
