BEIJING -- China's Supreme People's Court has called for the establishment of effective and convenient mechanism that ensures people's voices are heard and their needs understood.

"We should make full use of Internet, letters from and visits by the masses and appeals, among others, to ensure that the public can express their opinions," Wang Shengjun, president of the Supreme People's Court, told a national high court president meeting on Monday.

He urged courts at all levels to pay more attention to hearing of cases involving education, medical treatment, employment, social insurance, housing and others which are closely related to people's living.

"The legitimate rights and interests of the mass of people should be safeguarded through judicial measures," Wang said.

Wang also stressed draft and improvement of judicial policies that are conducive to energy saving and ecological conservation, and enhancing judicial protection of the living environment for urban and rural residents.

Wang said the Supreme People's Court will cooperate with departments of  public security, supervision, finance, industry and commerce and media circles to guarantee smooth implementation of court verdicts.
