PYONGYANG - Visiting Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping said here Wednesday that China will continue playing a constructive role in the Six-Party Talks on the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula.

In talks with Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Xi said that China is willing to strengthen the exchange of opinions and cooperation with the DPRK in promoting the Six-Party Talks.

Xi arrived in Pyongyang Tuesday morning on a three-day official good-will visit to the DPRK, the first overseas visit that the vice Chinese president made since he assumed office earlier this  year.

The DPRK is the first leg of his five Asian nation tour, which will also take him to Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Yemen.
