BEIJING -- India and China are "mature enough" to realize and address unresolved problems in bilateral ties, said visiting Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday.
"Our boundary is peaceful and we are determined to keep it so," said Mukherjee in a speech delivered at Peking University.
He said India and China had established different mechanisms to safeguard peace and stability in the border area. The two countries reached an agreement in 2005 stipulating the guiding principles to find out the mutually satisfactory solutions on the border issue.
Mukherjee stressed the two states should resolve the disputes through negotiations in a "constructive" and "forward looking" manner.
"While we may have our differences, we will not let them become obstacles to the broadening and deepening of our relationship," he said.
On his first visit to China since taking up his post, he arrived in Guangzhou, capital of the southern Guangdong Province on Wednesday at the start of a four-day visit. The border issue is one of the topics of discussion.
