BEIJING - A total of 10 young people selected "2007 college students of the year" as role models for their contemporary counterparts were awarded at the Beihang University in Beijing Tuesday.
They have shown the merits of "dedication," "responsibility," "creativity," "liveliness" and "filial piety," which are treasured by Chinese society for college students, according to the sponsors of the awards, which include people.com, China Campus Magazine, and dastu.com, a web site for college students.
The 10 prize winners come from Peking, Tsinghua and eight other universities.
This is the third year for the awards to be presented. Nearly 100 million people have logged on the official website of the awards and about 10 million voted.
The awards for " 2008 college students of the year" will soon open for application, the sponsors said.
