Week-long Festival celebration gets started

The National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest, is lit as fireworks explode to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year in Beijing February 7, 2008. Construction of the stadium, nicknamed the Bird's Nest, began in 2003 and it was the only one of the 36 Olympic venues in China not completed by the end of last year. The arena, which is scheduled to be finished by the end of March, will host the opening and closing ceremonies as well as athletics and soccer at the Aug 8-24 Games. [Agencies]
