The book, "Peace, Development, Cooperation -- Li Peng's Diplomatic Diary", comprises nearly 1,000 pieces of journal Li kept, transcripts of speeches he delivered and news reports about him. The book illustrates key diplomatic events Li had participated from 1983 to 2003, featuring the country's major diplomatic process. He had made trips to 104 countries. The new book is the sixth of a series of journals he had published. The other five cover Li's work with the Three Gorges water control program, electric power industry, nuclear power projects, legislature, and economic events. China will adhere to an independent foreign policy of peace and contribute more to world peace and development, Li wrote in the preface. Li served as premier for ten years and chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, the national legislature, for another five years. |
