A brave sow which bit a butcher in order to save a boar from being slain has been placed atop a selection of the most moving animals of 2007 in China, organized by an Internet user on a well-known domestic online community.

The pig became famous after performing its incredible feat on this year's Valentine's Day. The powerful beast rushed towards a man preparing to slaughter a boar and knocked him to the ground, according to Rednet.cn, a Hunan-based online web portal.

The pig's owner later had to pay 800 yuan for the treatment of the butcher and the pig was confined to its sty, the report said.

On the shortlist of the most moving animals are also a dog which helped his master sell baked sausages and a mother cat which fed a baby rat with her milk.
