HK marine police seize HK$20m contraband

HONG KONG, November 30 (Xinhua) -- A large quantity of electronic products worth 20 million Hong Kong dollars (2.57 million US dollars) were seized in Hong Kong on Thursday, according to a press release from the Information Services Department of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Friday.

The press release said that about 6:00 p.m. Thursday, officers of Hong Kong Marine Outer Waters District and Marine West Division on an anti-smuggling operation spotted a suspicious cargo vessel in Lantau North of Hong Kong.  

A large quantity of contraband electronic products, including computer hard disks, central processing units, memory cards and some electronic medical products were seized, while a 71-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assisting in the export of unmanifested cargo, the press release said.
