Landslide traps 3 in northwest China

XI'AN -- A landslide in Northwest China's Shaanxi Province has trapped three people since Saturday, the local government said on Sunday.

The accident was reported at 3:20 p.m. in Chang'an district on the outskirts of the provincial capital Xi'an.

About 20,000 cubic meters of earth and rock rained down, burying three workers at a nearby quarry, the Chang'an district government said in a press release.

Five excavators were at the site to search for the victims.

Investigators have attributed the accident to natural disaster.
