A veteran in Taiwan Province was relieved after finding a former army colleague nearly 50 years later and paying back NT$40 ($1.20) he borrowed.

The 73 year old, surnamed Yang, borrowed the money from a man surnamed Cai, 50 years ago. They lost contact after retiring from the army.

Yang, however, never stopped searching for Cai and recently found he was still alive. Yang searched through the telephone book and got hold of Cai. Last Wednesday Yang gave him NT$2,000, which included principal and interest.
