A female dog was honored as a "wet nurse par excellence" in the North Forest Zoo in Harbin, Heilongjiang, for nursing more than 40 cubs of other species of wild animals.
Over the past seven years, Li Li has helped the zoo nurse wolf, tiger and lion cubs "abandoned" by their mothers. Earlier this month, the dog began nursing three white cub tigers, a very rare species in the zoo. Last week, the zoo decided to allow the dog to "retire" as soon the three tigers were through with their nursing needs.
