Penglai, a county in eastern China's Shangdong province, has attracted a large amount of visitors from home and overseas for years to see its famous mirage.

But the county is providing more tourism services these years, said Fang Wei, sectary-general of the county government at the press conference on Wednesday. "We are developing three main brands to attract more tourists to Penglai," explained Fang.

According to him, the first brand of the county is "Paradise of Leisure," which means Penglai takes active measures to underline the city's characteristics and develop its leisure industry with the target of "creating a famous city of leisure."

Penglai is gifted with good natural resources. Long history and a vibrant culture drive the area's leisure economy. Penglai is gifted with unique natural scenes of mountain and seas, a pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. Top-notch grape wine is made here. The ecological environment of Penglai also is very good.

The second brand is "Hometown of Wine." As one of the World Seven Grape Coasts, the grape and wine industry is established as an essential industry of the city.. Penglai has become the area with the swiftest development in the grape and wine industry in China. There are about 45 wineries in Penglai, with the annual production of wine accounting for 20 percent of total Chinese wine production.

And the last brand is "Holy-city of Peace." In every August since 2000, the China-Penglai "Ode to Peace" International Youth Culture & Art Grand Ceremony hosted by UNESCO is held in Penglai, with three branch meeting places in USA, France and Korea. Young people and honorable guests from all over the world get together in Penglai to hold cultural and artistic performances with the theme of praying for peace.

In the past several years hundreds of thousand youths have taken part in this activity, which is acclaimed as "the largest peace party in human history" by UNESCO.
