The official website of the Japanese government has launched a Chinese version to introduce Japan's fashions and culture.

Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated this move is to enhance understanding between China's younger generation and Japan's. It will also create a sound atmosphere for China's Premier Wen Jiabao's upcoming Japan tour from Wednesday to Friday. Also, this year is the 35th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japan relations and the Year of Cultural and Sports Exchanges. This has accelerated exchanges in all sectors between the two countries.

Content in Chinese mainly covers science and technology, business, economy, pop culture and entertainment.

The ministry added it is planning to launch another Chinese website focused on Japanese children to introduce Japanese animation and cartoons, in the near future.
