20 foreigners rescued in storm surge in Yantai

Twenty foreign crewmembers were rescued from the storm surge outside China's eastern port city of Yantai.

The crewmembers were trapped outside Yantai port on Sunday when their cargo ship, MMM Galveston of Malaysia, anchored to avoid the storm surge, but remained grounded there.

The Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Yantai city took emergency action to rescue the 20 foreign crewmembers, including Pakistanis and Malaysians, and sent them to hospital on Monday.

A violent storm surge occurred offshore on the Yellow and Bohai Seas. Six ships encountered risks in the storm surge on the seas near Yantai.
