A bulletin board system, or BBS, has become a popular stage for some women to show off, including their salaries, clothes and even homework they had assigned to their school-aged children.

A mother in Shanghai surnamed Zen recently posted a message on a well-known website for mothers, displaying how many assignments her fifth-grade daughter had completed during the recent winter holiday. In response, many mothers also shared the assignments they had given their children, obviously proud that they had spent the holiday on studying instead of playing.
