HOHHOT -- Three people in a family in north China's Inner Mongolia were murdered and an eight-year-old girl was seriously injured early Tuesday, local police said.

Pang Jiangwu, 44, a migrant worker from north China's Hebei Province, was murdered around 4 a.m. Tuesday in his rented house in Shulinzhao Town in Dalad Qi, a local police official said.

Pang's 34-year-old wife Yang Guihua and 13-year-old son Pang Zhengbing were also killed. Their eight-year-old daughter Pang Ruru was seriously injured and is receiving emergency treatment in a local hospital, the official said.

Police said Pang's brother, Pang Jianxiong, 36, was suspected to be the murderer, who is on the run.

The case is still being investigated.
