An 80-year-old man from Tangshan, Hebei, registered to be a volunteer for the 2008 Beijing Olympics last Friday and became the oldest volunteer in the province.

To serve the Olympics well, Qu Binglin has studied English for six years since Beijing became the host city of the event. Now he is attending an oral English course in a college where he enjoys one-to-one English speaking training. "If I pass the final interview for volunteers, I will show great zeal serving the Olympics on behalf of all elderly Chinese like me," he said.
