Uremia patient marries; attendees donate to help(China Daily)Updated: 2007-02-01 09:14 A 25-year-old woman, suffering from a serious case of uremia or blood in her urea, had a special wedding ceremony last Friday in Jinzhou, Liaoning, thanks to local people who showed great concern for her welfare. Li Donghua, the bride, is from a poverty-stricken rural family and contracted the disease weeks ago. Since then, she has needed hemodialysis, costing at least 4,000 yuan ($514) needed each time. Despite her disease, she loved life so much that she decided to get married. Touched by her story, hundreds of local people attended her wedding with more than 73,000 yuan ($9,400) donated on the spot. (Chinese Business Morning News) |
