The first case of sexual harassment at work was heard last weekend in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province.

Liu Li sued her boss, Zhang Feng, saying that one day in June 2004, six employees of the company, including Liu and Zhang, had a dinner, after which Zhang insisted on taking Liu home. On the way, she alleges he forced her to kiss and stroke him. And in July 2005, she alleges Zhang made sexual advances to her in his office. Liu has requested an apology and 100,000 yuan ($12,500) in compensation for mental anguish. The case is ongoing. This is the first case filed under the local sexual harassment law, which took effect on January 1.
