"Parents don't need to worry too much about early romance. Today's primary and middle school students have strong personalities and their appreciation of beauty is rapidly forming. A pretty uniform can enhance their self-identity, foster their sense of belonging to the school and reduce their resistance to the school's administration," Zhang added.

"But we don't have to follow Korean or Japanese style uniforms. We should design uniforms with our own national characteristics," she said.
