Police in Guangzhou arrested nearly a hundred suspects related to an attempted gang crime in a raid of a local hotel on Wednesday morning, the city-based New Express reports.

Police sources released later that day said the gangsters, under the lead of a man, gathered at the Shahe Hotel on Xianlie East Road, conspiring to control the wholesale clothing business at a nearby market by force.

Police said about 100 servicemen were dispatched to the hotel after receiving the report at around 8:00am.

Blades and illegal drugs were also found at the site, the sources said. A further investigation is under way.
