Macao gets minimum wage proposal

(China Daily)
Updated: 2006-12-26 09:17

The Macao Special Administrative Region government said it would propose the minimum wage be applied for all security and cleaning jobs outsourced by public or government institutions when the new rules open for public consultation in the first quarter of next year.

Economy and Finance Secretary Francis Tam said in an address last week that the government chose to introduce minimum wages for security and cleaning personnel first because these services are usually paid by the hour.

Tam said the government would also put forward a policy on maximum working hours.
