A young businessman from Chengdu, Sichuan Province, has sued his ex-girlfriend, claiming he spent 300,000 yuan (US$38,338) wooing her over the course of a year only for her to end the relationship last week.

He said he had given her whatever she wanted in order to woo her expensive clothes, her rental payments, a laptop but now he wants it all back.

But the woman is refusing to return any of the money or goods, arguing he gave them to her of his own free will.

The case will be heard in a local court soon.
