SHANGHAI - EBay Inc. on Tuesday said it had appointed Daniel Lee as general manager for its research center in China, as the online auctioneer tries to expand its presence in the country.

Lee will manage and expand eBay's Shanghai-based China Development Center, which is the company's first development center outside the United States, eBay said in a statement.

Lee was most recently chief technology officer and engineering operations director for Yahoo! in North Asia.
