Two coal mine owners responsible for a gas
explosion that killed 166 miners two years ago in Shaanxi Province appear
at a local court in Tongchuan, northwest China's Shannxi Province
Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Liu Shuangming (left), former director of
Chenjiashan Coal Mine in Tongchuan, was sentenced to five years and six
months, and Wang Youjun, former deputy director and chief engineer, five
years. The court heard that Liu and Wang asked the miners to work despite
being aware of the risks. [Xinhua]
