APEC SOM reached agreement on trade

Senior officials from the 21 member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC, finished their two-day meeting in Hanoi on Monday afternoon.

They discussed and reached agreement on trade, human security, cultural exchange, anti-corruption and reforms in the APEC organization.

The Meeting passed a report in which APEC countries agreed to reduce the cost of trade by 5 percent in the next four years.

The Economic Committee as well as the Budget and Management Committee of the organization also passed the Technology Choice Principles Pathfinder Initiate and Annual Report during the meeting.

Model measures for a Free Trade Agreement and a regional trade agreement were also under discussion.

The results will be submitted to the informal meeting of APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting later this week.
