Ammonia leak in Hubei

Firefighters dressed in protective costumes dilute the air
following an ammonia leak at a fertilizer factory in Da Wu County, Central
China's Hubei Province November 1, 2006. The ammonia leak occurring at 7:40 am
Wednesday was caused by a valve leakage. A total of 20,000 residents, including
prisoners at a nearby jail have been evacuated with the help of local police.
The accident killed a worker at the site and injured three factory workers, a
fire fighter, a 16-year-old middle school student and a pregnant woman. All the
injured are out of critical condition, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
