The gala cultural event 2006
Experience China in South Africa consist of exhibitions, performances, keynote
speech and a Chinese Film TV-week, also includes relative press conference and
opening ceremony.
The event was launched on October 25, and will run till the end of November.
During this full month, the event will present to the South African people
exhibitions of Chinese Fine Arts and Crafts, and Modern China Photography
Exhibition.
The Chinese Fine Arts and Crafts Exhibition will exhibit 150 items collected
by China Fine Arts and Crafts Museum, including jade article, stone carving,
wood carving, lacquer work, chinaware, metal crafts and folk crafts, which
assemble the elite of the modern Chinese arts and crafts.

The Modern China Photography
Exhibition presents the social changes, people's lives, natural geography, folk
customs of China with 220 pieces of photography works. The photographers vividly
bring forth a reborn and harmoniously developing China.
The performances consist of: Song and Dance of Tang Dynasty by Shaanxi
Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble, Shaolin KongFu by Henan Provincial Shaolin
Martial Arts Group, Heavenly Beauty National Music by Female Music Band of
Sichuan Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble and Chinese National Costumes by
Beijing New Silk Road Organization. The four groups will make a 13-performance
tour in Pretoria and Cape Town.
Chinese Film-TV week will play telefilms of Chinese history, culture,
architectures, traditions, sceneries and also a film of Shaolin KongFu.
In accordance with the Program of Cooperation on Deepening the Strategic
Partnership Between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of South
Africa signed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and President Thabo Mbeki, and with
a view to further enhancing the cultural exchanges and cooperation, the State
Council Information Office of China, Department of Arts and Culture of South
Africa and the Embassy of China in South Africa co-host 2006 Experience China in
South Africa, this ice-breaking big scale cultural event.
