'Zhang Side' picks up best film award

won best film at the 15th China Golden Rooster Awards and Hundred Flowers Film
Festival over the weekend in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Director Yin Li received the best director award for "Zhang Side."
"With generous support from the public, the production of the movie only cost
us five months," said Yin. "I hope hero Zhang's selfless devotion to those in
need can inspire people."
Wu Jun won the best actor award for his honest portrayal of Zhang while
Taiwanese actress Rene Liu took the best actress award for her role as a
penitent thief in director Feng Xiaogang's "A World Without Thieves."
Best supporting actor and actress awards went to Hong Kong's Nicholas Tse and
Yuen Qiu respectively.
Tse played a young officer alongside Jackie Chan in "New Police Story." "It
was such a big surprise to me," said Tse. "My collaboration with Jackie Chan was
so happy and unforgettable."
Yuen gave a memorable performance as a landlady/kung fu expert in "Kung Fu
Hustle."
Chinese mainland actress Sun Li won the best new actor award for her
depiction of a blind girl in Jet Li's martial arts film "Fearless."
According to Kang Jianmin, vice chairman of the China Film Association and an
official of the festival's organizing committee, 48 domestic entries competed
for the Golden Rooster Awards, China's equivalent to Hollywood's Academy Awards.
