A woman from Quanzhou of Fujian Province who has long suffered from sterility has recently delivered an 800-gram midget baby, the tiniest ever to be born in the city.

The baby was born on October 10, when his mother was only in the 26th week of her pregnancy. The baby is now 31 centimetres tall, and his head is as small as an adult's fist. As he is much lighter than an ordinary newborn and is having difficulty breathing, he has been kept under intensive care in hospital.
