In Wuxi, wine making a fun custom to share

Many citizens from Wuxi of Jiangsu Province are keen to produce homemade grape wine to treat guests at holidays.

Chen was inspired to brew grape wines at home before the National Day holiday when she visited Liyuan Village, which teems with high-quality grapes, and learned from local villagers about methods of making wine. She tried producing a bottle of wine and won high appraisals from guests during the holiday.

Every summer during grapes' harvest season, local citizens would visit the village in groups. Some urban wine makers said they enjoyed sharing the fun of wine making with their families besides getting indulgent in the strong flavour of wine.
