"World Historical & Cultural Cities Expo 2006, Nanjing, China" will be held in Nanjing from Sep.22nd to 28th.

The Exposition is jointly sponsored by Ministry of Culture of P.R.China, Ministry of Construction of P.R.China, and State Administration of Cultural Heritage of P.R.China, and National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO.

The Exposition will be organized and hosted by Nanjing Municipal People's Government, Department of Culture and Development of Construction of Jiangsu Province. Governments of the cities that will have been invited are co-sponsors.

"World Historical & Cultural Cities Expo 2006, Nanjing, China" will be focusing on "Promoting Cultural Development and Building A Harmonious City". The theme is "Concentrating the essences of ancient capitals, displaying the splendor of the world"; and "A grand cultural meeting, a people's holiday". During the week-long Exposition, all the activities will be cultural and for the citizens, which will include 71 activities of 10 large categories such as: Cultural Forums, Cultural Exhibitions, Cultural Festivals, Arts Cultural Performance, Cultural Contests, Cultural Tourism, Cultural Theme Activities, and Carnival.

The mayors, the celebrities and artists of the following foreign and Chinese historical and cultural cities have been invited to The Exposition in Nanjing:

Foreign cities: Florence (Italy), St. Petersburg (Russia), Vienna(Austria), Kyoto(Japan), Malacca(Malaysia), Daejon(South Korea),Alexander(Egypt),Edinburgh(Britain),Birmingham(Britain),Strasbourg(France),Montreal(Canada),Melbourne(Australia),Rotorua(New Zealand),Krakow(Poland), Mexicali(Mexico), Temuco(Chili),Belo Horizonte(Brazil)etc.
