BEIJING -- Wang Gang, alternative member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has called for further China-Russia cooperation to contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

Wang, who is also member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and director of General Office of CPC Central Committee, made the remark in the meeting with visiting Russian Presidential Chief of Staff Sergei Sobyanin.

He said the relations had boomed since the two countries forged the strategic partnership of coordination a decade ago, and the pragmatic cooperation was boosted in fields such as political mutual trust, economy and trade, energy, investment and high technology.

"China is willing to strengthen the bilateral exchange and cooperation in a bid to step up the China-Russia relations", Wang told his Russian counterpart.

Sobyanin spoke highly of the bilateral cooperation, noting that the activities of "The Year of Russia in China" had fostered the strategic partnership.

Sobyanin also expressed his admiration of China's achievements in its national construction, adding that Russia would continue to cement cooperation in fields such as administrative management.

Invited by the Chinese government, Sobyanin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for his first China visit.
