A Shanghai man's finger was bitten on Monday by a fish that had been killed more than 40 minutes earlier.

Meng bought a 700-gram fish in a wet market; the vendor cut the fish's stomach open and took out its internal organs on the spot. Some 40 minutes later, when he was washing the fish at home, it suddenly opened its mouth and bit one of Meng's fingers tightly.

Family members cut open the fish's mouth with a pair of scissors and freed Meng's bleeding finger.
