JAKARTA -- Indonesia's leading automotive distributor Indomobil Group will begin selling China-made Cherry QQ small cars next week to fill growing demand in city cars, an economic daily reported Friday.

The small, affordable car is expected to give a boost in now sluggish Indonesian market, reported Bisnis Indonesia, quoting an executive with the company.

"We target sales of 1,000 units until the end of the year," said Indomobil president Gunadi Shinduwinata.

The public launch and the initial delivery of the first Cherry QQ in Indonesia is slated on Monday.

The 800-cc car is priced at around 67 million rupiah (7,334 U.S. dollars), available in standard and luxury models.

The company claimed Cherry QQ has the best mileage in its class, with 25 km per liter of gasoline.
