A 72-year-old man in Zhengzhou of Henan Province has overcome an eight-year bout with cerebral thrombus by copying books.

Li Jian was diagnosed with the disease in September 1998, and his condition worsened in 2003, leaving his right hand immobile. Li tried physical exercises, and came to the idea of copying ancient Chinese books and walking.

Gradually, movement returned to his hand. By this August, his right hand could move flexibly enough even to play the piano.

In a recent medical examination, doctors said Li's cerebral thrombus has disappeared.
