The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region aims to have 10 national brands in 2010 and
have at least one world famed one in 2015, a regional commercial official said
Friday.
The northeast China region currently has two famous brands on the national
level and 113 regional ones, according to Hei Liangjie, director of the regional
commerce administration.
The famous brands on both national and regional levels are mainly in the
field of natural materials, such as cooking oil procession, dairy products,
construction materials, electric cables, fertilizer and agricultural materials.
Hei said he hoped his region would boast of 200 regions name brands and two
national ones four years later; 20 national famous brands and 300 regional famed
in 2015.
Ningxia has seen an annual growth of 20 percent in exports in 2005, Hei told
reporters Friday. The export-oriented companies are paying more attention to
brand promotion. However, the region lacks a brand that is highly competitive in
the global market, he added.
Most of the exports in Ningxia are low value-added and require a large input
of raw materials, thus unable to sustain long-term rapid growth, Hei noted.
He urged the regional companies to improve the products quality, put into
more efforts to promote their brands and increase the added-value of their
products so as to sharpen competitive edge.
