Jia Qinglin, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and also Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), chaired the meeting and made a speech.

Participants of the meeting said the publication of the Selected Works of Jiang Zemin, former chief of the CPC Central Committee, is an important event in the political life of the Party and the state. It is also an important event in the localization of Marxism in China.

They said Jiang has pointed out the right direction for the work of the CPPCC and his thoughts on the CPPCC will continue to be important guide to CPPCC's work.

The participants stressed Studying the Selected Works of Jiang Zemin is an important political task of the CPPCC at present and in the coming period.
