Typhoon kills 214 in China

A couple ride past a demolished village on the banks of the
Beijiang river last week on the outskirts of Shaoguan, in southern China's
Guangdong province. Rescuers have recovered the bodies of nearly 100 drowned
fishermen from the sea, bringing the total reported death toll from Typhoon
Saomai to 214. [AFP]
