Drought hits parts of Gansu

A farmer
watch downwards a dry well due to the drought in Huining County, West
China's Gansu Province July 20, 2006. A total of 343, 000 natives are affected
by the drought. Some parts of the drought-battered region have not seen a drop
of rain for 13 months. The local government has allocated funds for disaster
