| Many stars in China
have created official Web sites to keep in close touch with fans. However, on
the front page of Sun's site, common users cannot enter into the "Fans Club"
page, an important part for most fans on many stars'official Web sites, unless
they register with their mobile phone numbers.
Moreover, according to the note on Sun's site, fans could become a club
member only when they agree to pay 10 yuan (US$1.23) per month. The description
of the club was flashy and exaggerative with the words like: "Are you a big fan
of Sun Yue come and join in the club and to receive Sun's signature on CDs,
posters and her personal gifts."
Fans need to pay more if they want to join in the backup group. In the
fans'chatting room, there was a notice saying, "members of the backup group
would have chances to take part in the fans activities in China and would have
chances to listen to Sun's new songs. Fill in the application now!"
Additionally, non-club members need to pay 1 yuan if they want to download
mobile phone ringtones.
Against the fans'condemnation, a spokeswoman from Sun's company surnamed Wang
said: "The Web site was established by Sun's fans, but we'll carry on the
investigation soon".
Sun Yue, who was in Singapore on July 15, cited by Hua Sheng News as saying "I
did not take a single penny from my fans."
But she said the website is operated and managed by a company with over a
dozen staff. "They undertake to design, construct, manage and operate the
website, so there will be costs in doing so."
Sun promised to contact to the company and look into the matter, and will
give a satisfactory reply to her fans when she is back in
China.
