1-year-old Li Hua is seen with his mother after successful surgery
on the jaw yesterday at the Xijing Hospital in Xi'an, capital of Northwest
China's Shaanxi Province. A donkey attacked the boy on June 6 when he and his
grandmother were tending the animals on a mountain near his village in Lincang,
Yunnan Province. The boy lost his whole lower jaw in the accident. The operation
was conducted on June 20 and the chief doctor declared the operation successful
since no infection had occurred as of yesterday. Li is expected to leave the
hospital in the next five days. [newsphoto]
