Jiangsu Web Tour kicked off in Nanjing

The first large-scale Jiangsu Web Tour kicked off Monday in the capital city of Nanjing, with a theme on taking priority on enriching the people.

Reporters from more than 30 major news websites throughout the country gathered in the province to cover the measures the province has taken to implement the scientific development concept, self-innovation, and build new socialist countryside and a harmonious society.

As the starting station, online reporters visited the city's Baixia District, which has done an excellent job in increasing its residents' incomes.

Wang Dejun, Party Secretary of the district, introduced measures the district government has taken during a group interview. These include four priorities -- scientific education, environmental protection, enriching people and energy efficiency, and four bases - to accelerate economic development, encourage entrepreneur, perfect social security system and strengthen public functions.

Following the group interview, the reporting group visited a community center and the Nanjing Red Cross Hospital, one of the ten best hospitals in Jiangsu Province.

After a two-day visit in Nanjing, the journalists will travel in three groups to the south, central and north regions of the province, covering the social and economic development of 12 cities, including Suzhou, Yangzhou, Wuxi, Nantong, Xuzhou, and so on.

The six-day event was hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Prapaganda under the supervision of Information Office of State Council.
