BEIJING - International food processing and packager Tetra Pak announced on Monday that the second-phase of its production base in Inner Mongolia autonomous region has officially begun operations.
With investment of 500 million yuan ($79.37 million), the new facility can produce 10 billion boxes every year, increasing the annual production capacity of Tetra Pak's Inner Mongolia manufacturing base 20 billion boxes. Currently, the Sweden-based company can produce 60 billion boxes in China every year.
The production capacity increase ties in with Chinese people's ever-increasing demand on high-quality milk, water and beverages, which also created job opportunities for local people, said the company.
The expansion of production capacity in Inner Mongolia, where there are rich dairy resources and a convenient land transportation system, helps Tetra Pak reduce costs and increase efficiency.
