A teacher at Sichuan University recently said that he can use panda faeces as fertilizer to cultivate an anticancer tea, Tianfu Morning Paper reported.
According to the paper, the teacher claimed that the panda poo is extremely nutritious and rich in bamboo, which can prevent cancer. The teacher said that using the faeces as fertilizer can double the anticancer effect of the tea.
The "Panda Tea" is priced at about 220,000 yuan ($34,446) per catty (0.5 kilogram), 10 times the price of the most expensive bamboo-leave green tea in the current market, said the paper.
Experts said that although panda faeces can be used as a tea fertilizer, its anticancer effect has not been proven. "Panda Tea" may only be a publicity stunt, the paper said.
