HONG KONG--Hong Kong stocks tumbled 684.07 points, or 3.06 percent, to close at 21,663.16 on Tuesday, following sharp decreases overnight in the US stock market.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 22,092.57 and 21, 648.39. Turnover totaled HK$80.36 billion ($10.32 billion).
