Customs crack 1,411 smuggling cases in 2009

China's customs said it cracked 1,411 trafficking cases involving 2.2 billion yuan ($324 million) last year.

It seized 3,184 suspects who were found smuggling products including minerals, automobiles and their accessory, machinery products and wine to China, the General Administration of Customs said on Wednesday.

There were 35 cases with each involving at least 100 million yuan, it said.

The customs also intensified the clampdown on illegal exports of precious metal resources.
