35% HK's Q3 exports to mainland for outward processing

Thirty-five percent of Hong Kong 's exports to the Chinese mainland in the third quarter were for outward processing, according to statistics released by local authorities on Friday.

The Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong special administrative region (HKSAR) government said 25 percent of Hong Kong's domestic exports and 35 percent of re-exports to the Chinese mainland were for outward processing.

Fifty percent of Hong Kong's imports from the mainland were related to outward processing, and 66 percent of Hong Kong's re-exports of the mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing in the mainland.

In the first nine months, 33 percent of Hong Kong's total exports to the Chinese mainland were for outward processing, and 49 percent of Hong Kong's imports from the Chinese mainland were related to outward processing.
